About
Working Edge
Our
History
The Working Edge
was established in 1997 in Brisbane
with a broad goal of facilitating
optimal fit between individuals, their
work and organisations for which the
work is performed. Our initial focus
was on providing injury/disability
management training and policy support
to employers. We designed and delivered
accredited Workplace Rehabilitation
Coordinator Training as well as
workshops in workers' compensation,
case management, psychological trauma
and career transition; consulted to
industry in occupational rehabilitation
and health and safety; and provided
disability brokerage
services.
In 2000, we
"sea-changed", relocating to northern
New South Wales where our focus
broadened to meeting the psychological
needs and wants of people in work and
general life. Our services now
include

coaching.

At the
Helm
Helen Murphy
Director/Psychologist
Helen is a
psychologist with a reputation for
achieving results in injury/disability
case management, consulting and
counselling since 1985.

- Early in her
career, Helen established and
managed a workplace rehabilitation
program for Australia Post's
Victorian workforce of over 10,000
employees, achieving estimated
savings of $90 million in future
liabilities.
- She was
involved in the development and
implementation of a major trauma
response and recovery program
following a multiple on-site
shooting incident at Australia
Post's State Headquarters (Queen St,
Melbourne, December
1987).
- She
facilitated the establishment of a
new private vocational
rehabilitation provider in a highly
competitive market and consulted to
insurers on injury management
strategies.
- In
occupational health and safety, she
has implemented safety behaviour
change programs and safety climate
surveys in mining and manufacturing
companies, reviewed a safety
attitude improvement program in the
construction industry, and completed
an audit of management systems in
aged care.
- Helen is an
experienced presenter and has
developed and delivered a number of
training programs in areas such as
injury management, supervisor
skills, and stress management. She
has published papers on injury
management, OH&S, vocational
decision making, & risk
management in national &
international forums.
- Helen
completed training in "Authentic
Happiness Coaching" in 2004 and uses
this to help people identify and use
their strengths to overcome life's
hurdles, and increase their overall
sense of satisfaction, meaning and
happiness in their
lives.
She is a
registered psychologist in Queensland
and New South Wales, and a member of
the Australian Psychological Society
and the Australian Association of
Career Counsellors.
